O trabalho prisional no Presídio Central de Porto Alegre

Resumo
O trabalho prisional no Presídio Central de Porto Alegre (PCPA) tem características próprias. Para conhecê-las, foi realizado estudo de campo em 2014 (entrevistas com presos trabalhadores e não trabalhadores, com um sargento da Brigada Militar e com uma assistente social da Superintendência dos Serviços Penitenciários). Partimos com as seguintes questões: como é organizado e como funciona o trabalho prisional nessa casa? Quem são os personagens envolvidos no instituto do trabalho prisional e quais suas perspectivas em relação a essa atividade? Quais as consequências da superlotação para o exercício do dever/direito ao trabalho? A atuação de técnicos e agentes penitenciários influencia nesse direito/dever? Como conclusões, podemos apontar que, no PCPA, há pouca atividade laboral; e, quando ela existe, está longe de cumprir as determinações normativas. O trabalho serve apenas para auxiliar na administração da Casa.

THE PRISON LABOR IN THE CENTRAL PRISON OF PORTO ALEGRE
ABSTRACT: The prison labor in the Central Prison of Porto Alegre (PCPA) has its own characteristics. To know them, was conducted field study in 2014 (interviews with inmates workers and non-workers, with a Military Police sergeant and a social worker of the Superintendent of Correctional Services). We start with the following questions: how organized and how is the prison labor in the PCPA? Who are the actors involved in the prison labor institute and what its prospects in relation to this activity? What are the consequences of overcrowding for exercising the duty/right to work? The role of technical and correctional officers influences this right/duty? As conclusions we point out that in the PCPA there is few work activity; and when it exists is far from meeting the regulatory mandates. The work is only to assist the administration of the PCPA.
